tune of the day :tunes:[link]

Seems like lately I've been spending WAY too much time at hospitals this last month.

My younger two had the obligatory winter ear infections that decided to go postal overnight.
And now my eldest is having seizures, three in the last week.
As if that isn't scary enough it looks like our HOUSE is the reason:faint:
The house was winterized over the summer so it's pretty much airtight, great for electric bills very bad for our health as it turns out.

We had 6 pets DIE in a two week period starting Christmas morning with my poor little bird. We've all had what I assumed where the normal winter colds, Not horrible but stuffy noses, sore throats etc but they never go away, and I wake up and go to sleep with headaches on a nearly daily basis. Now the docs say that it looks like Mandy(my oldest daughter) has been poisoned by something, presumably in the air she's breathing.
Unfortunately it's VERY time consuming AND expensive to try to track down the culprit and insurance will NOT cover it. Not that knowing what it is would help much. The general consensus is we need to move..and quickly.

So in the meantime I've been leaving all the windows open as much as possible(which really sucks in the wintertime, let me tell you) our electric bill is going to be insanely high for this month I suspect.

I hate moving, really truly absolutely LOATHE it. and trying to find a place where the girls won't have to change schools is hell, it's looking more and more like we're just going to have to give up staying in the school district. Good schools are SO hard to find.

Still no way to take pictures so I haven't been around much  one of these days I'll be able to get a camera, but right now there are more pressing concerns.

features are what I've stumbled across as I try to clear my insanely full inbox.

If you get multiple copies of this journal in your inbox blame DA, it's refusing to post it.

 Stay in there, Charity. Sounds like you're having a rough time, but I'm sure you'll bounce back just as quick as you fell.

I hope your problems are resolved soon, the death of a bird does suggest a gaseous cause.
What sort of work did you have done?,there is an increase in childhood health problems here in the uk ,cavity-wall insulation is one possible concern as it prevents the home from breathing properly.

Have you tried a carbon monoxide detector?(they are about £2 or £3 over here),this was my wifes first response to your situation.
If the vents in your home have been obstructed, you could be getting co from your heating inside the property,it is also a deadly killer as it is absorbed into the bloodstream instead of oxygen!.

We have a carbon monoxide detector. It was installed about 6 months ago and has never gone off. The EMT's first thought was gas too but since we have no gas appliances anywhere in the house that was pushed aside.
the doc's main thoughts are black mold, lead, and mercury, not in any particular order.

change is good, you go first.
hating me won't make you pretty.
ok... so, what's the speed of dark?

The owner of the house had it insulated, (attic and underside) had draft guards put on all the doors and did something to the heating vents so that less heat vented to the outside.
They also blocked any leaks or holes they found in the dryer vents, fans in the bathroom and kitchen etc.
Basically they had it inspected by the electric company and figured out that if they ever want to sell this heap they needed to weatherize it. The problem was here last year too but we didn't realize it sooner because the house was so leaky and drafty that air flow was keeping levels down. we had a rabbit and another bird die last winter.( we attributed those to the stress of moving)
and over the spring, summer and fall the windows were open most of the time, it's only in the winter that it gets closed down.

I hope that you get a satisfactory result to your woes, and one that does not need another move for you.
